Larry Howe is a retired electrical engineering manager with the majority of his career spent in the telecom industry. Since taking the opportunity to retire early in 2011, he has been pursuing volunteer advocacy in renewable energy and bipartisan climate solutions.
In 2012 along with other Live Green in Plano volunteers, he co-founded Plano Solar Advocates (PSA), a grassroots volunteer group of Plano citizens to help residents learn about solar energy. PSA organized successful solarize group purchase programs in 2013 and 2014 resulting in 40 residential solar installations. He volunteers with the North Texas Renewable Energy Group and completed two terms on the board of directors of the Texas Solar Energy Society. He also closely collaborates with Solar United Neighbors of Texas.
In 2016, Larry began volunteering with Citizens Climate Education, a non-partisan, non-profit organization focused on building support for national bipartisan climate solutions. Since 2021, he has led over 40 “Friendly Climate Science Workshops” across the North Texas area reaching 350+ people.

To make a difference, we first must understand what’s happening. So, let’s get more of us comfortable with the basic science of our heating planet. Not everyone has the time to do a deep dive on climate science. But most of us can invest an hour or so to learn the basics so we can better trust those who have devoted their careers to scientific processes and discovery. The workshop uses the World's Littlest Book on Climate, a 20 page booklet, which is available for a free.
