Jim is a long-time business “guy” who has worked in a number of industries, from telecommunications, high-technology, consulting, financial services, even not-for-profit. During his work life thus far, he also had to become a “fraud-buster.” He has uncovered and dealt with fraud over a dozen times, resulting in more than $350 million in recoveries, refunds, judgments, and awards. His fraud “work” also required testifying, ultimately putting several perpetrators in jail.
In addition to his accounting degree, and an MBA after that, Jim also served as an adjunct professor at his alma mater…his recent roles include CFO, three times as a COO, and three tenures as CEO at both public and private companies. Along the way, he has given 150 presentations across the USA. His experiences and education, which included a minor in philosophy and theology, finally led him to ethics and how to make ethical decisions in business and elsewhere. Jim will talk about some of his uncovered fraud and corruption experiences, and give us his views of what makes an ethical decision -- vs. a “legal” one, a “moral” one, or a “practical” one.
Jim grew up in the Midwest, lived in many places around the USA, landing recently in Dallas, TX.

His whistleblowing and fraud-busting experiences resulted in a vast number of lessons-learned which are of timeless value to all levels of management: from first-year auditors, company staff, management, executives, and board members.
Jim Wanserski has served in a number of professional, management, staff, consulting, and executive positions with public and private companies. From his early tenure in telecommunications and technology, to management consulting, executive roles, and even fraud-busting, the breadth of his experience is wide-ranging and of value for all levels of management, including not-for-profit entities. His recent roles include CFO, three terms as COO, and three CEO roles with both public and private companies.
Along the way, however, he ended up uncovering a number of fraud and corruption incidents, amounting to $350 million in suits, liens, judgments, awards, and recoveries. Those experiences, and in-depth research into philosophy, ethics, and even criminality - led him to several foundational frameworks and methods for “ethical decision-making.”
