Fort Worth Rotary District 5790 partners with Free Speakers Dallas-Fort Worth

Rotary District 5790Free Speakers, a pro bono speaker’s bureau in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, has formed a partnership with which includes 63 Rotary Clubs in North Texas, from the Greater Fort Worth area to Abilene, and from Wichita Falls to Stephenville.

FreeSpeakers.org is a community service project that provides speakers to area groups. The speaker’s bureau is 100 percent free to groups that need speakers. There is no charge to any group. Ever. Not from the speaker and not from the bureau. FreeSpeakers.org maintains speaker’s bureaus in seven U.S. cities and has been matching speakers with groups for more than 29 years.

“Partnering with Free Speakers DFW is a tremendous asset for our clubs,” said Jon Bullock, Rotary 5790 District Governor. “Our program chairs are always looking for dynamic and engaging speakers, and this partnership provides a fantastic new resource to bring diverse voices and topics to our meetings. We’re excited about the possibilities this collaboration will create for our members.”

Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and act to create lasting change – across the globe and as part of local communities. Most Rotary clubs have a need for weekly speakers which can become a challenge for program chairpersons.

“Rotary is one of the organizations that most often request speakers from our speaker’s bureau,” said Andy Richardson, director of FreeSpeakers.org. “We’ve received amazing feedback from grateful Rotaries and happy speakers. We partnered with Rotary Districts in Los Angeles and Washington D.C., and it has been very successful.”

What’s in it for the speakers who belong to FreeSpeakers.org? They are motivated by the opportunity to network, teach, hone speaking skills, make contacts, convey a message, give back to the community, and frequently, all the above.

“I have found that many people are interested in becoming speakers in the bureau are very high-level people, all with experience and willingness to give a talk, unconcerned about the size of the audience or the donated time,” Richardson said.

Since 1996 FreeSpeakers.org has been providing speakers to area groups in Chicago. The project has been expanded to include bureaus in Phoenix, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and Orange County, and most recently Dallas-Fort Worth.
